LINDSAY IS A FREE WOMAN _ Lindsay Lohan has been released from the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Hospital ... TMZ has confirmed. Lindsay was released after 23 days at the Hospital. Lindsay will receive outpatient care for the foreseeable future. We're told the doctors at UCLA were very clear with Judge Elden Fox ... they felt Lindsay should be released from the facility immediately, and the judge saw it their way. Judge Marsha Revel had previously ordered Lindsay to spend 90 days at UCLA. A court hearing is scheduled tomorrow, although we've learned Lindsay will not be there. COST OF LINDSAY’S TREATMENT _ Lindsay Lohan's UCLA medical bill was a whopping $40,000 a week ... sources familiar with her treatment tell TMZ. Before continuing ... we'll answer what we know you're asking. We're told Lindsay's insurance (SAG) does not cover treatment at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Hospital. Sources at UCLA tell us the base rate for treatment at the Hospital is $17,850 a week, which does not include the cost of doctors, testing, medication, or therapists. All tolled, Lindsay's bill came to $40,000 a week. Here's what's crazy ... Judge Marsha Revel ordered 13 weeks of treatment, which would have brought the bill to $520,000. According to the docs, Judge Revel overreacted and Lindsay was released after only 23 days -- almost 3 1/2 weeks. That reduces the cost to a very reasonable $130,400. PARIS TWEETS ATTEMPTED BURGLARY _ A 31-year-old has been charged with attempted burglary stemming from an incident Tuesday morning at Paris Hilton's home. According to law enforcement, he was arrested just after 6:30am after the heiress claims she saw him on her surveillance cameras holding "2 big knifes." The LAPD took Nathan Parada into custody and bail was set at $50,000. Parada has a history of arrests. ... After the scare, Paris tweeted: "So Scary, just got woken up to a guy trying to break into my house holding 2 big knifes. Cops are here arresting him." KARA SAYS SHE WANTED TO LEAVE IDOL _ All rumors indicate that Kara DioGuardi is out at American Idol, but now she's claiming that it was her decision to leave. A source close to Kara tells eonline.com that she's been trying to quit the Fox show for two months. The insider says she "went to Fox two months ago and told them she didn't want to do another season. She did two years and thinks that's enough." Fox has yet to officially announce Kara's departure. The insider claims that when she asked to leave, "they said they'd get back to her." MEYER AND ROWLING BRING IN BIG MONEY _ Twilight's Stephenie Meyer and Harry Potter's J.K. Rowling made a lot of money with their books but they are not the highest-paid authors of the year. According to Forbes, that honor goes to James Patterson, author of the Alex Cross novels, who took in $70 million. Meyer came in second with $40 mil, followed by Stephen King ($34 mil), Danielle Steel ($32 mil) and Ken Follett ($20 mil). J.K. Rowling landed at number 10 with $10 mil. Here's the Emmy-winning commercial. BIGGEST LOSER CAST ANNOUNCED _ The 21 new contestants on The Biggest Loser will be "paying it forward" this season. NBC said Tuesday that is the theme for the upcoming 10th spin of the inspirational weight-loss reality series, debuting September 21. In the season premiere, trainers Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels and host Alison Sweeney lead community fitness challenges in seven cities -- Detroit, Los Angeles, Portland, Atlanta, Phoenix, Oklahoma City and Boston -- with three contestant hopefuls in each city competing for spot on the show. Here's the cast. DUSTIN HOFFMAN WILL DO LITTLE FOCKERS AFTER ALL _ Despite initially being written out of Little Fockers, Dustin Hoffman will be coming back to his role in the sequel. TAYLOR LAUTNER SUES OVER MISSING TRAILER _ Can you imagine Taylor Lautner forced to do crunches and send text messages out in the open air on the set of his new film Abduction? The star says a pimped-out trailer wasn't delivered on time, making him mad enough to sue. Lautner has sued McMahon's RV of California with breach of contract and fraud for allegedly not delivering a $300,000 custom vehicle by June 21. The lawsuit cites "displeasure, annoyance and emotional distress" experienced by Lautner. WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD WRITER DIES _ George David Weiss, who authored such signature pop songs as Elvis Presley's Can't Help Falling in Love and Louis Armstrong's What a Wonderful World, died Monday (August 23) of natural causes in New Jersey. He was 89. MICHAEL DOUGLAS TO BATTLE EX OVER WALL STREET MONEY _ Despite being diagnosed with throat cancer, Michael Douglas refuses to delay his court battle with ex-wife Diandra Douglas over her claim that she's entitled to half his earnings from the upcoming Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. Diandra had offered to postpone the hearing, but a source says Michael declined because he "wants to get this over with as soon as possible." The suit appears to hinge on a clause in Michael and Diandra's divorce settlement that entitles her to 50 percent of any earnings Michael receives from any movies he did -- including residuals, merchandising and ancillary rights -- during their 23-year marriage. According to Diandra's lawyers, that provision includes any "spinoffs" of Douglas' movies. |
