According to the State Parks Division, the concept for Oasis State Park was formalized in 1961, and signed into law by then-Governor Mechem, officially creating the park from property that was formerly known as Taylor’s Grove. In order to complete the feel for the name “Oasis,” the pond was created in 1971 and has been the center of family fishing since that time.
