Amber KayeHi there, my name is Amber Kaye. I was born and raised in good ‘ol Portales, New Mexico.  After High School, I moved to the Seattle area for several years. While I was there, my husband and I started our family; we have a daughter and a son.  Once the kiddos arrived, we decided to move back home so our they could be raised closer to our families. I started working for Mix 107.5 back in 2012, alongside Rooney and Moon. A few years after that, I became cohost of Mix Mornings and that’s where I’ve stayed.  It’s a really cool start to my day.  I get to hang out with you guys every morning from 6 until 10 and I LOVE IT!

If you were a cartoon, which one would you be and why?
Elizabeth so I could ride Clifford.

What is the weirdest thing you have ever eaten?
Goldfish. Not the cracker kind…that wouldn’t be too weird.

What do you do to have fun?
Watch TV, read, rock climbing (indoor), volleyball, basketball, and photography to name a few.

Have you been told you look like someone famous? If so, who?
Claire Danes and the lady from X Files (what’s her name…Gillian something or other).

If you were to name one piece of clothing that describes you, what would you say?
Shoes, because they are necessary but can also be fun.

If you were a superhero, what would your name and super power be?
Invisible chic, who has the power to be…invisible!!

What’s one thing you do that other people find odd or silly?
Talk on the radio. LOL.

What’s the funniest pick up line you’ve ever heard?
All of them are bad. So, sooooo bad.

If you were to write a book about yourself, what would be the title?
A book about Amber. I would then randomly contact a famous author and ask her to have coffee with me to discuss my “writing career”.

Tell us something you hate doing. Why?
Cleaning, cooking, exercising –cause I’m lazy!

What’s your biggest pet peeve?
I have two. Food smacking and bad drivers. A bad driver smacking a cheeseburger would send me over the edge.

What’s the one thing, you can’t live without?
Water. Yes, I’m being a smarta–!

As a child, what did you wish to become when you grew up?
I wanted to be a professional figure skater or a landscape architect. Maybe even both!

If you could have an unlimited supply of one thing, what would it be?
Money…duh.

Who is your all time favorite Mix artist?
Gwen Stefani
Camper KyleI landed in Clovis, NM in 2013, after living in Gulf Breeze, Florida for 8 whole years (the longest I’ve ever lived somewhere. I’m a military kid…I’ve been all around this great country.) I have to be honest…I was not very optimistic about moving to Clovis…especially after finally being able to start growing some roots in a single place. But after some time…I got over it. I decided that Clovis was going to be what I made it to be…so I could either make it no fun, or lots and lots of fun.

Once I adopted that attitude, my entire view of the town changed dramatically. I started to see just how tight-knit of a community Clovis truly is. After a couple years of being incredibly indecisive on what I wanted to do with my life, I decided to stay here in Clovis after my parents got stationed in DC. I went on a 7,000 mile motorcycle trip around the country, bought myself a trailer, made sure the clutch on my 1998 Chevy Prizm was going to make it through the winter, and I started my adventure.

One day…I was working at my job at a local restaurant, and a guest came in. As I was helping her with her take-out order…she mentioned to me that I should look into radio. This blew me away, because THE VERY DAY before I had been considering the radio business as an idea worth looking into (especially considering two of my role-models, Ronald Reagan and Mike Rowe, started in radio.) I took this as a sign and started looking into it. The folks at Mix 107.5 were gracious (or crazy) enough to give me a chance…they hired me…and here I am. Camper Kyle at your service! Carpe Diem!

If you were a cartoon, which one would you be and why?
SpongeBob or Patrick. Life seems so amazing for those guys. Living in Bikini Bottom seems very exciting and satisfying.

What is the weirdest thing you have ever eaten?
Grilled (and lightly seasoned) chicken hearts. Very tasty…as it turns out.

What do you do to have fun?
Read books (what else, right?) Listen to music. Hang with the buds.

Have you been told, you look like someone famous? If so, who?
Jax Teller from SOA! But this was back when I had long, greased back hair.

If you were to name one piece of clothing that describes you, what would you say?
Two-Year old worn out Vans Off-The-Wall shoes.

If you woke up tomorrow as a superhero, what would your superhero name be? What would be your super power?
Spicy Man: The power to spice up any piece of chicken I lay my eyes on.

What’s one thing you do that other people find odd or silly?
Go into random serious philosophical rants during incredibly un-serious moments.

What’s the funniest pick up line you’ve ever heard?
You must have been sitting on a pile of sugar, because you have one sweet…pair of eyes. Is that hazel?

If you were to write a book about yourself, what would be the title?
Kyle: Where the World Went Wrong: Part 2

Tell us something you hate doing. Why?
Singing in public. I’m extremely talented at this and I hate making people feel bad about their own singing talents. Duh.

What’s your biggest pet peeve?
Pet peeves. I’m quite serious.

What’s the one thing, you can’t live without?
Oxygen. Is that a serious question?

As a child, what did you wish to become when you grew up?
A Paleontologist. Jurassic Park was (and still is) my favorite movie. So…that was kind of my inspiration.

If you could have an unlimited supply of one thing, what would it be?
Nothing. Once you have an unlimited supply of something, you no longer value it.

Who is your all-time favorite Mix artist?
Taylor Swift. Not even kidding. There, I said it.
Kelsey Laurenz Kelsey Laurenz is the News Director for the Rooney Moon Broadcasting group of radio stations and a key member of Mix Mornings.  That's all we know about her.  She's a closed book.  Kidding.  More about Kelsey coming your way soon.
I was born at a very young age in a mythical kingdom known as Minnesota. As the Ice Age that always seemed to be plaguing my childhood memories of Minnesota progressed, all the hunter-gatherers and I migrated south and west. I stopped briefly for a quarter of a century—which, if you consider 25 years in the great scheme of things, it is—in Iowa, getting educated, married, and employed. I also became a daddy along the way. I hung out there until the lure of California beckoned, and I once again migrated south and west.

In Cali I got further educated and employed, and became a daddy again. Having overstayed my welcome after 12 years, I needed to migrate again, but it seemed pretty damp south and west of Southern California. I therefore decided to head in a new direction, migrating with my family [my lovely wife Janine and handsome sons Cam and Brian] and two goldfish [Angel and Goldie—both sadly now gone, as we told the boys, to help find Nemo] to New Mexico in 1995.

I was toiling in relative obscurity as a professor at “the Harvard of the Southwest” (better known to most as Eastern New Mexico University) when, for some strange reason, Steve Rooney and Duffy Moon decided that they needed an over the hill ex-wannabe athlete to be their sports guy. So for the past two decades I’ve been privileged to take a slightly idiosyncratic look at the world of sports on the Rooney Moon Broadcasting group of radio stations.

GET TO KNOW DOC ELDER

If you were a cartoon, which one would you be and why?
How do you know I’m not a cartoon?

What is the weirdest thing you have ever eaten?
Vichyssoise.  I was really disappointed—it tasted just like potato soup.  I later found out that it did because Vichyssoise is in fact potato soup with a Frenchified name.

What do you do to have fun?
Try to become a better employee of Rooney-Moon Broadcasting. Do I get my bonus now?

Have you been told, you look like someone famous? If so, who?
I actually was mistaken in LA for Willem Dafoe. I took that as a compliment until “Spiderman 3” came out.

If you were to name one piece of clothing that describes you, what would you say?
My high school football practice jersey. I say that because not only do I still have it—I still wear it. There’s a reason why I’m the sports guy.

If you woke up tomorrow as a superhero, what would your superhero name be?  What would be your super power?
I would be Geriatric Man. I would have the power to put a protective shield around Social Security, Medicare, and the senior discount at Denny’s.

What’s one thing you do that other people find odd or silly?
Outside of the fact that as a college professor I proclaim that “Family Guy” is the greatest intellectual accomplishment of Western Civilization?

What's the funniest pick up line you’ve ever heard?
What? Pick-up lines are sexist! But if they weren’t, here would be my favorite: you’re a QTπ. Sound that out, and remember that this is coming from a guy with a Ph.D.

If you were to write a book about yourself, what would be the title?
Doc For Dummies.

Tell us something you hate doing. Why?
I hate having to be accurate when I give scores. It would be a lot more fun to say that Clovis won a jillion to a billion rather than 45-14.

What's your biggest pet peeve?
SLOW DRIVERS IN MY LANE! IF YOU EVER SEE MY MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE BEHIND YOU, SPEED UP OR PULL OVER!

What's the one thing, you can't live without?
IF I were young and hip, I’d say something like my smart phone, but people who have seen me use my Motorola flip-phone would know I was fibbing. So I’ll say instead it would be my 7-iron. If my house ever catches on fire, I’m saving it and my wife. Everything else can be replaced.

As a child, what did you wish to become when you grew up?
I wanted to be the starting pitcher for the Dodgers. As I’ve gotten older, though, I’ve become much more realistic in my hopes and dreams. Now I’d settle for being their middle relief pitcher.

If you could have an unlimited supply of one thing, what would it be?
Well, oxygen and water would be nice, but I don’t think you are looking for something that mundane, so I’ll say Ding Dongs, Ho Hos, Twinkies, and bear claws (the pastry—not the animal body part). Of course, if I had an unlimited supply of them Rooney Moon Broadcasting would need a new sports guy, because I’d never be able to fit through the studio doors after a few days with those munchables.

Your current favorite Mix artist is...?
I really like Bruno Mars and Ariana Grande.
NeedlesworthThis is Mr. Needlesworth, the newest member of the Mix Mornings Crew.  He's perhaps the most accomplished member of the team, having run a 10K every night, since birth.  Mr. Needlesworth brings so much to the morning show, it's hard to pinpoint just how important his role is. He was born into poverty and turned his life around the day that Mix Mornings cheated their way into winning a silly bet against Mix Afternoons host, Duffy Moon.  That is the day that Mr. Needlesworth joined the on-air team and the rest is history.  Watch for much more from Mr. Needlesworth as he explores new adventures.
